Prom!

I'm sure you all know how excited I was for my prom.
Well, capture that excitement and times it by 100, and you might come close to the excitement I was feeling on Tuesday.

Prom was amazing! It was so nice to see everyone dressed up and was also a chance to say goodbye to those who were leaving in a more special way, other than just saying it on a normal day.

This is going to be a post on my makeup and dress, but stay tuned as there will be another just including photos.

So, this is me...
It may come as a shock, but everything I'm wearing is actually from New Look, and the best part about that is, it's so inexpensive! In total, my shoes, bag and dress came in at under £100!!!

Hopefully, you can see that my shoes are nude with bows on the front. The bows are covered in various sized crystals. My bag also has a large bow detail on the front and I think this makes the overall outfit really fun and girly.
I opted for a short dress as it was only my year 11 prom and I wanted to still show my youthfulness as opposed to looking so grown up... I like to look my age :)

Unfortunately, this is the best up close picture I have of my makeup, but I'm going to go through what I used anyway...
Before applying anything, I spritzed my Urban Decay Deslick Spray all over may face to keep the oil at bay and then applied my Rimmel Primer using my fingers.
I used my Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to even out my complexion and give me a flawless base. Even though I had a tan, this foundation blended into the colour beautifully and I think this is down to the fact that it's a little darker than my natural skin colour anyway, so it easily adapted to a darker colour.
I then used my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer to banish any dark spots and redness under my eyes and around my nose. I used my Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush to really work it into my skin and give a natural finish.
I shaped and filled in my brows using my Benefit Browzings Kit and then set them using Natural Collections Clear Mascara to ensure that they stayed in place all night!
Next, I lightly contoured using my Avon Matte Bronzer and the Real Techniques Contour Brush. To add colour to my cheeks, I used Benefits Hervana Box O'Powder. This really gives your cheeks a subtle but noticeable glow. Finally, I highlighted my cheekbones using the Benefits Watts Up Highlighting Stick and then blended it in flawlessly with my Buffing Brush.
I primed my eyes for eye shadow using my Art Deco Eyeshadow Base and then buffed Foxy from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette to even out my eyelids.
Then, I added a little of Sephoras eyeshadow in Satin Corset with my Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush.
To shade and contour my eyes, I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and my Sephora Crease Brush. I buffed in the darkest shades to create a sort of smoky haze.
I applied my Ardell Demi Wispies and a little coat of mascara to emphasise my eyes.
Finally, on my lips I used Topshops Lipstick in Secret admirer and then topped it off with a shimmery lipgloss from Avon.
A final spritz of my Urban Decay Deslick Spray made sure my makeup lasted all night.

A General Chit Chat

I thought I'd give you a little update on my life from the past month (and a little of this month) as I had no particular blog planned.

Lets start with the most exciting thing that happened last month... my 16th birthday. wooohoooo
So my birthday is on June the 25th, and I think this is a perfect date for two reasons.
1) It's exactly 6 months before/after Christmas, depending on which way you look at it I guess. This means that everything's nicely spread out and I have enough money/presents to last me until the next time.
2) It's always sunny. I cannot remember a birthday where it has rained. This is perfect because it means I can sit out in my garden or go for walks to celebrate my birthday!
Also, I didn't have school on my birthday for the first time in ages! Bonus!

So 16 is such an important milestone for me. It really has meant that I have more responsibilities and freedom.
For instance, just before my birthday, I began my first paid job, meaning I am now a waitress. ooooh fancy! Sure, it's only part time and I'm on minimum wage, but it's a start and an experience that many people my age have yet to gain.
I've also had to set up my very first bank account that I am actually in-charge of and have control over. It's quite an unsettling thought that I can access quite a bit of my money easily, because, well, I will spend it given the chance.

Then, 5 days after, I went to Poland with my school. It was an educational visit for students studying History. We went to Auschwitz to learn more about the Holocaust, but also went shopping, site seeing and to water parks.
I took History for my GCSE's and am also taking them for A Levels. This means that I have studied World War 2 in a lot of detail. It's a very shocking and painful thing to learn about, and even though you see pictures and videos about it, you will never truly understand the pain and extent of the situation until you visit the place where the majority of it took place.
It was an amazing experience as I got to learn about the living conditions and the whole thing became real for me.
We had a brilliant tour guide who gave us so much information and told us so many stories about the lives of people involved. We also met two people who survived the Holocaust and had come to re-visit their past. These people are truly inspirational and their stories will live with me for many years to come.
I would highly recommend visiting Poland if you have the chance, both for the culture and history of the country.

I also did a Holiday fashion series if you're wondering ;)

Now onto exciting things in July!

Wednesday saw the graduation of my sister. As I've mentioned before, she studied Law and Criminology and also received a 1st... The highest grading apparently.
So Wednesday morning, we travelled to Swansea to see her graduate.
It was a boiling hot day so a dress was definitely the answer, the one I'm wearing in the following pictures is from Dorothy Perkins and my cream flatforms are from Missguided. It was a really lovely day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. :)
I also saw my god parents which was lovely as I haven't seen them for a long, long time. I always love spending time with them.

So that pretty much it right now, but I have a lot more to look forward to.

My school prom is on Tuesday so I'm definitely looking forward to that, then on the Saturday, I'm off to my favourite place; Newgale in West Wales and finally, my cousins wedding in August.

Each event will have a post or two dedicated to it no doubt!

I feel like I've just had a little catch up with my friend, a very good listener who doesn't talk back haha :)

Holiday Fashion- day 4

We made it! This is the last instalment of my Polish Holiday Fashion series.

Personally, I think I've kept the best till last...

Day 4-
We were leaving Poland so I needed an outfit that was casual and comfortable. However, it was also the warmest day, so leggings weren't an option.

As I said, I really love this outfit. It's so simple and casual but looks quite put together and cool at the same time.
My shorts (maybe it's a skort?) are once again from the NewLook Generation range and a made from a chiffon type material. They're one of my staple pieces for summer just because they're so darn cute! They're covered in tiny white, yellow, blue and red flowers aaaaaaand are high waisted too. How perfect!
I'm actually on the hunt for a few more shorts like this, so if you know of any, I would be very grateful if you told me :)

My top is from Next and is just a basic burnt out cotton top with a low neckline and a pocket detail. I actually bought this in a size bigger than I need because I wanted it to have the really baggy and relaxed feel.

Once again, I paired this outfit with frilly socks and converse. What a surprise...

So, here's me just showing off how baggy and lose the shorts are, yay!
Also, as you can see, I tucked my top into the from of my shorts just to add a little shape to the outift, otherwise, I would've looked a bit like a lump.

Holiday Fashion- day 3

Almost there, just one more day left in my holiday fashion series!

Today's a little different as I have two outfits, one for the day and one for the night.

Day 3- Day Time
The third day was the probably the warmest day, but it was also the day we went to visit the Auschwitz Concentration Camps. This did affect my outfit choice as out of respect, you should wear clothes that cover your shoulders and the majority of your legs.

I chose to wear this black maxi skirt from NewLook, featured in this Haul Post. It's really flowy and didn't make me feel too warm throughout the day as air could easily pass through.
I paired this with my Mickey Mouse crop top from Primark to add some fun and youthfulness to the overall look. Again, this baggy top meant that I stayed cool throughout the day.
I know you're probably getting bored of my converse, but they're just so practical! We spent the majority of the day walking and my converse were perfect I guess...

I know I look really strange and a little bit like a mouse, but I didn't have mascara on when this picture was taken... I don't know why?

Day 3- Night Time
We wandered round the town for a bit after returning from a water park.
As I said, it was the warmest night we'd been there, so I went for my best summer dress, by best, I mean the dress that keeps me coolest the most... I know what I mean...

This is basically a creamy grey dress with a neon mint green striped pattern on it. It's also a kind of burnt out material but not enough so that you can see through it don't worry. I believe I bought it from River Island in
the sale either last year or the year prior to that.
As you can tell, it has a high low cut which I think is really fun and girly. The straps also tie into a knot at the back which adds interest.
And finally, I'm not wearing converse woooo! I'm actually wearing pink, stud covered gladiator sandals from Next. They're so comfortable.

So that's it, just one more outfit left ahhhh!

Holiday Fashion- day 2

Another day, another outfit...

Day 2
The second day was slightly warmer and I knew we'd be walking around all day, so I wore something comfortable and practical.
I personally prefer to wear dresses or baggy shorts in warm weather as I find other shorts stick to me and I feel so uncomfortable.

I decided to wear this cute dress from Newlook.
It's similar to my pinafore dress, but it is different in some ways.
Okay, yes it is blue and covered in little white flowers, and yes, it is a skater style dress. And, I am wearing it with frilly socks and navy converse.
BUT.... it's a darker blue, with bigger flowers on and had sleeves. It's also made out of a jersey material So so so different as you can tell.

Basically, the dress may seem so similar in many ways to my previous post but it is also different in so many ways. It's really versatile and perfect for holidays.
I didn't get too warm but it also kept me warm enough throughout the day and in the night.

Tomorrows outfit will be different, I promise :)

Holiday Fashion- day 1

I recently came back from a trip to Poland with my school and thought I'd share the outfits I wore.
This is going to be a four part series including outfits I wore in the day, night and for the flight home.

Day 1-
We arrived in Poland around mid day, walked round the town for a bit and then went to the hotel to get ready for a meal and a little wander around the main square.
The weather was really nice. Not too hot and just enough breeze, it was a comfortable temperature.

Apologies for the darkness of these pictures. This was actually the best lighted place in our room.

I wore this cute pinafore dress from Newlook Generation. I actually had this for my birthday but I'm pretty sure that it was around the £20 mark. Its not denim but a thin cotton material with tiny white flowers, which makes it perfect for holidays! Underneath, I wore a plain white t-shirt from Next. It's a size bigger because I wanted it to be quite baggy.
I then wore some frilly socks from Topshop and my navy converse that I purchased in Canada.

Once again, apologies for the darkness :(

As you can see from this picture, the dress is in a skater style which I really love! I also wore this with a cropped denim jacket and my pink Rayban sunglasses.

I really love this outfit, it's so laid back and casual, but could easily be dressed up with a crop top underneath  and more accessories.

Stay tuned for day 2 and a post all about my holiday!

Health and Fitness routine- Part 3

So this is the final part of my Health and Fitness routine and it's all about exercise.

I basically change up my exercise routine quite a lot as personally, I find my body adapts to things really quickly and then I don't get great results.

On a day to day basis, I do a mix of cardio exercises and targeted workouts to strengthen and tone my muscles. Which exercises I do change each day to add variation into my routine. I also find that this doesn't bore me as I'm not repeating the same things each day.

*Tip*- I find buying new workout gear and workout clothing really motivates me to go running or to do exercise, maybe it'll help you too! Also, maybe you could find a workout buddy to help you throughout your workout. They can motivate you and make things a lot more fun. If you can't find someone to exercise with you, make a playlist of upbeat and fast paced songs to go running too. It not only keeps you running at a steady beat, therefore increasing the effectiveness of your workout, but once again, it motivates you and makes exercise a lot more fun and distracts from the strenuous activity.

Cardio-
Running- I go running with my friends at least once a week. I think going with your friends really just makes running a lot easier and more fun. We normally walk for around 30 minutes until we reach a park (not a playground park) and then run for 1-2 hours. We don't run for the whole duration, but run for around 5 minutes then complete a series of short exercises such as star jumps, lunges and squats for around 2 minutes and repeat. This is really effective as it gives your muscles a rest and it also means your body can recover from the running so your prepared for the next set of running. It also changes up the actions carried out by your muscles so it's more effective in toning and strengthening them.
Dancing- I use Just Dance for around 3-4 times a week. It's so fun! As I've said before, it has a setting called Just Sweat that combines dance routines with boxing, boot camps or aerobics. Again, this creates a sort of interval training, meaning it switches up your actions to get the best results. I personally find this so fun and it doesn't even feel like your exercising but I see great results! I do 2 x 25minute routines and my favourites are the intense cardio training and intense cheerleading bootcamp. I also attend dance lessons twice a week for around 1 hour to 1 and a half hours , so  I also get a great deal of my workouts from this.
Walking- I have a dog so this is a great opportunity for me to go walking. However, if you don't have a dog, you can just go walking with your friends and family. I go for around 30 minute walks as often as I can. It isn't as strenuous as running or dancing, but gains results in the long run.

Targeted workouts-
Apps- I really like the Daily Legs, Butt and Abs workouts. They contain a series of targeted workouts that are both shown by a trainer and explained so it's really easy to follow. You can also feel it working really fast, which is what I like about this particular series. There are loads of other apps that you can download, but I personally like these ones as their free and I think they really work.
Cycle legs- I just made up the name of this to be completely honest. It probably has one, but I just don't know it... Anyway, I do this at night when I'm lying in bed. I lye on my back and lift my legs up at a 90degree angle. I then move them in a cycling motion, as if I'm riding a bike. I do this for around 5 minutes. I can honestly feel this working my legs so much! It also helps me sleep as it tires me out. Bonus!

Both-
Blogilaties- I'm pretty sure the majority of you have heard of this Youtube channel! It's basically a series of videos containing targeted workouts and cardio. Also, it has food tutorials teaching you how to make delicious healthy foods. Cassie Ho shows you how to do each exercise and talks to you throughout, this kind of distracts you from the pain of her exercises. Honestly, I don't know how she does it! The exercises are so effective and Cassie is like a little ball of energy. She's so motivating and she makes things a lot funner (obviously not a word).
Go and subscribe, you won't regret it- http://www.youtube.com/user/blogilates

*Please* please please stretch before and after you do any type of strenuous exercise to prevent any injuries! Also, make sure you drink a lot of water to keep you hydrated and healthy throughout your workouts :) Have fun.

Once again, I hope I've helped a few people and given you an idea of exercises that you can do to improve your fitness.
